Question by Michael D: How is the interior design look of turkish homes? Is it arab look-alike or european look-alike? Or both ?
In Belgium, I saw many furniture stores owned by Turkish inmigrants, and they seem to be mixed-influence, with oriental style sofas and modern style sofas. And it seems that everyone has carpets at home.
But I just don’t know how the average Turkish people arrange their home.
Do they like modern design ? What about the lightings ?

What are the preferences of Turkish people, regarding interior design ?

European-like furniture, carpets everywhere (preferably not wall-to-wall, wool or silk if you can afford it), preferable wood or laminate floor boards.

This is a gross generalization based on middle-class tastes and preferences, though. There are country homes and designer homes which donot fit any category.

Question by kosciap: Where to go close to Istanbul for a not-so-touristy beach holidays?
I want to go to Turkey in September and I’m wondering where should I go. It’s going to be just a week, so I don’t want to travel too much, and I’ll be flying to Istanbul… and so I’m looking for some place close to Istanbul (lets say 3 hrs on train max) where I could spend a quiet holiday away from crowds. Sea close by is a must and I would like to have some places of interest or some nice walks around . I will appreciate any advice.
